If you’re aged 16+, you’ll find that a lot of students your age will attend our year-round General English programmes at our main school in Brighton for your summer English course.
However we also have a lovely alternative which gives a similar experience to a summer camp, where your lessons take place on campus whilst you live locally in homestay accommodation:
Loxdale is our dedicated summer centre, located in an attractive mansion house with its own gardens, sports hall and canteen. ELC shares the site with our partner school, Loxdale English Centre, who run their own junior courses for students aged under 16. ELC students are carefully separated.
If you are aged 13, 14, or 15 and your parent or guardian is studying on an adult course at ELC Brighton, you can go to ELC Loxdale for your summer English course, and be with teenagers the same age as you.

In Brighton, the English summer vacation course for 16, 17 and 18-year-olds takes place in a dedicated summer centre called Loxdale.

Our most popular, all-year General English programme which builds your fluency and confidence in English for every day situations.
Our language learning levels relate closely to how the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) define them, but with a difference which we have found to help our students at Elementary level.

We offer an English level test which anyone can take. It involves 50 questions and, depending on your level, will probably take you from 10 to 20 minutes. At the end of it, we will tell you your probable level.
But when you book, we will ask you to take a more detailed and accurate test, to make sure that you start in the class which is best for you.
The summer English courses we offer at ELC in Brighton are well suited to mature students who are looking for a little independence. That’s mainly because all accommodation is in homestay, meaning that as a summer course participant, you’ll travel between your homestay host and the school each day using public transport.
This means our summer English courses in Brighton may be right for you if you’re looking for some independence and freedom to meet new international friends and spend at least some of each day unsupervised, exploring Brighton and experiencing the richness of its culture.
Our English classes are carefully structured, and we take the learning English part of a summer course very seriously. We want you to learn and develop your skills and confidence in using English more effectively, and you will always be in a group of international students of a similar level of English to you.
